So, if you digitize a model car for personal not for resale use, your O.K.
Other wise read the box that comes with the model you plan to use. It tells
you how you can use it. Usally if you digitize something and animate the item
or produce a still of the model, it might be O.K. because it's your artistic
picture or animation. But if your selling the animation you better be covered
and the only way is to purchase the 3D dataset or model your own similar
reproduction. By no means can you sell the 3D model unless it's your original
or you payed for the limited rights to the object.
I know that suck's but when your on the other side and spent many hours
creating an original design, you don't take kindly to copies.
I always include the price of the object I need to buy in the job someway or
another. Viewpoint gives out free catalogs (printed or on CD) with a price
list.
My .02c worth.
P.S. This is a LW list posting since people are giving advice on the matter
and it's something we all must address at every project we do.
